They are here to see many many things...here's a few:
Excellence - with which we plan, organise and execute events. This goes down to all the nitty and gritty...even to the extent of how straight the rows of chairs are, whether the rows are parallel to one another.
Relevance - how relevant we are to the marketplace, to the environment we all live in..so let's be tasteful, be colourful and relevant in our dressing! Same goes for our lingo, knowledge of current affairs etc. (Remember! No Politics!!)
MOST IMPORTANTLY, our FAITH and LOVE! - how we are passionate about God and how much we trust Him and live out our lives in accordance to His purpose and vision for our lives. We need to tell the world that it is not just about a bunch of excited kids, but a whole generation of sons and daughters that love God wholeheartedly and people fervently, who sacrificed and built God a great house [not just the physical building (though that in itself is a feat *applause*), but a whole body of God-loving, people-loving, church-going, Word-knowing and culture-engaging believers!].
Pastor mentioned during Sat service (non-verbatim),
"for these 5 days, let be really good Christians!"
Let's be good listeners and catch the full message. It is not just for show or pretending, it is about playing our part in this generation, to fulfill the Great Commission in our lifetime.
It is about equipping the rest of our Christian family with the necessary to charge ahead, to engage the world and to add to the Kingdom! Since they are coming at our invitation, then we have the responsibility to share and do as much as we can in order to send them forth to where they have come from, to become better soldiers for God!
We need not be preaching, teaching, leading P&W on stage but in all that we do, the little things - the ushering, the security, the CC ministry and the little-littlest things - queueing up properly outside the hall(let's meet punctually and queue together instead of "adding" to the queue), giving directions, collecting of food at lunch and dinner, picking up litter after ourselves (and others!) and even keeping the restroom clean and dry! Ever single detail counts! Let's really be as excellent as we can be, to inspire!
Let's love the delegates as they come down to our church. Never mind the cultural differences; never mind the language differences; never mind the denominational differences; we all worship the same GOD!
"...By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Let's be true disciples, loving and excellent disciples that is!
But really, instead of 5 days, let's make it a lifestyle! Imagine the impact we will make on the people around us as well as the discipline that will be instilled in us! People will look at us and say "Hey, what fine young men and women! I wonder WHY!" And there we will jump and say "I've learnt this in CHURCH! That my God is a God of excellence!" Imagine the impact!
I've probably said almost all that has been simmering in me since the last few weekends. I'll end off with a verse and a question,
“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matt 28:18-20
At this coming inaugural Asia Conference, will you do your part and answer the call?
