This week, Pst Kong preached about why God wants us to be prosperous, and the principlas of how to be more prosperous.
10 Reasons Why God Wants You to Prosper.
1) God wants us to prosper because it is His nature [Gen 17:1-2]
2) God wants you to prosper He can establish His covenant in the earth [Deut 8:18]
3) God wants you to prosper so you can provide for His church. [Mal 3:10]
4) God wants you to prosper to keep finances out of the devil's control. [Mal 3:11]
5) God wants you to prosper so you can help the poor. [Prov 19:17]
6) God wants you so you can help the poor. [Prov 3:9-10]
7) God wants you so you can honor and glorify. [Prov 13:22]
8) God wants you to prosper so you can prove the sincerity of your love. [2 Cor 8:8]
9) God wants you to prosper so you can lead and influence society. [Deut 28:11-13]
10) God wants you to prosper because He is a good God and He wants to bless his children. [Psa 35:27]
*Therefore the key to prosperity & success is the principle of stewardship.
-> 1 talent = US$500,000.
*Can we be entrusted with the money that God trusted us with.
*God never test us in the much, He will always test us in the little.
*The results of stewardship will be the influence over cities.
*God is not against us having possessions, but He is against possesions having a hold on us.
-> Covetousness - a desire to possess something that do not belong to themselves.
*We must not forget that we are the stewards of God.
*A steward is a treasurer, a redistributors of all assets that belongs to his/her master.
[1chr 29:1-5,10-12,14]
-> This is David's personal Arise and Build.
[1Cor 4:2]
-> Our stewardship must be tested.
*How faithful and willing are we able to use the finances God blesses us with.
*Tithe = 10% of our increase.
*Why should we tithe?
-> 1 Cor 16:2(TLB)
*[John Avanzini] - If you expect God to deposit in you, you have to be ready for Him to make withdrawals.
[Luke 12:21-31]
-> Be anxious for nothing concerning our daily survival.
*Our increases will be added through addition, not multiplication
*To receive an increase in assets, we must have an increase in the capacity to maintain the increase.
*We are prospered to do good works and our increase in prosperity FOR doing good works is in multiplication!

To be A Son (Part 2)
Ok folks, here's part 2 of the sermon from our favourite Pastor, Pst Kong, who talked about the the 5 character of sonship.
[Gal 4:1]
"Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all"
-> Heir/Son means a builder of a family name
[Gal 4:6]
-> As sons/daughters, we are to recieve the full rights and blessing into our lives.
*Thus when we work for our leaders, we are not just to work for the sake of doing something, but to understand that we are doing things to leave a legacy with them.
So there are 5 distinct characteristic of sonship.
1) A son carries the GENETIC CODE of the house.
-> To be a true son/daughter, we are to carry the same spirit of those who are in-charge of the house.
-> We are to lay down our lives for each other if we claim to have a love-relationship with those in the same house.
*To be a man of authority, we must first be able to submit to authority.
2) A son SERVES THE VISION of the house
[Gen 14:14]
Now when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.
*Sons will fight for their spiritual fathers.
*Simple things are able to see whether are you a son or are a worker for a cause.
[Phil 2:19-22]
But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I know your state. For I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state. For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus. But you know his proven character, that as a son with his father he served with me in the gospel.
*Sons are rare as most people seek their own destiny and visions.
*Being a son works through actions(worthiness) not by confession.
*Only during through extreme pressure can you prove that you are a true son.
*A son serves a father by interpreting the father's vision and fufilling it.
3) A son SHARES THE PRIDE in their house.
*Ownership in something is needed for one to have pride in it.
[Prov 17:6]
Children’s children are the crown of old men, And the glory of children is their father.
->This is a healthy pride which is good.
*Developing healthy pride is a God thing.
4) A son ACCEPTS DISCIPLINE in the house
[Heb 12:5-6]
And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: “ My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”
*The willingness to accept discipline makes you a son.
*We are to accept chastening with contriteness.
5) A son GIVES BIRTH to children.
*True sons and daughters would love to invite people into their house.
*True sons and daughters are givers of their liffe.
*The difference between loving and lusting; To love means to give at the expense of oneself, to lust means to take at the expense of others
[Gal 4:1]
"Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all"

Being A Son
Hi all, this week we have Pst Kong back preaching to us. Great message from a great pastor!
[Psalms 127:1]
-> as God is a builder, he wants to build everything that is related to us!
-> The Lord builds his house(us) as our bodies are the temple of Christ
[Psalms 127:3-5]
-> Sons (Grk Huios) A mature person who can be entrusted with responsiblity
*God builds through people (generationally) and only through mature sons
*People seek maturity through knowledge, Hebrews seek maturity through relationships
[Romans 8:14]
->Part of maturity is to be led by the Holy Spirit
*We are to be "sons" that knows the mind of God
*God can work through servants and people, but he can only build through sons!
-> We need to serve God with the mentality of a loving son
*We are to be like God (like father, like son)
[Philippians 2:19-22]
-> 'Like - minded' => in the same spirit
*It's easy to hire staff to do your work, but difficult to groom a like-minded son
*A son is to share the heart of his father.
*A son will serve without being told
*"Sonship" requires a dying to yourself.
[Luke 16:12]
-> Promotion comes only when you are faithful in your leaders vision
*Timothy was a son to Paul by adoption(choice)
-> To be a father-son is to have a love relationship with each other
-> When you are faithful in your "Father's" Vision, God will promote you.
*Being a son means we are baptised in the DNA of the church we are planted in
in [Gen 12:7-8], after Abraham talked with God, he did 3 things at Bethel
i) Built an altar
ii) Called unto the Lord in prayer
iii) Gave an offering
in [Gen 28:10-12], Jacob did the same thing when He had an encounter with God
-> Same Spirit
*Whatever we love, we will make a vow(a commitment)

Weekend With Pst Tan Y.P
Hi all, this week we got PST Tan to preach to us once again. As a pastor anointed with the gift of teaching, I'm certain that many of us who heard his sermon would be greatly blessed by it.
Why do we need to Change our Thinking?
*Our mindset can hinder us on our breakthrough. Negative mindset will hold you back from fulfilling your potential.
*A person who you "THINK" as a hinderance would not be able to help you in anyway.
*A person who you "THINK" as a hinderance would not be able to help you in anyway.
[Jer 29:11]
-> God have only good thoughts about you, so do not think about Him in a negative way.
*We are to get rid of negative, critical, and defeatist thinking and to replace them with positive, generous and victorious thinking.
*We are to get rid of negative, critical, and defeatist thinking and to replace them with positive, generous and victorious thinking.
-> Critical = Picky, always finding faults.
3 Areas where we need to CHANGE out thinking in
1) We need to change the way we think WHO WE ARE in God.
[Matt 14:25-32]
-> In the account where Jesus was walking on water and the disciples saw Him, Peter called out to him as the main aim of the disciples in those times were to be like their rabbi.
-> When Peter started to sink and Jesus said that why did he(Peter) have so little faith, faith here is inferring to the faith Peter has for himself and not in Jesus as Jesus is walking on water.
*A rabbi in those times chooses disciples that he believes that they are able to spread His message in the way that reinforces the rabbi's teaching.
Re: [Jhn 15:16]
-> God believes that we can be like Him, for he has chosen us.
2) We need to change the way we think about what is IMPORTANT to God
*It's easy to get a person saved in Christ, but it's harder to be able to get the person rooted in the church.
-> Just like a seed, it's easy to sow a seed, but to see it come to fruition, it needs time and hard work.
*Good is often the enemy of the best
-> Being good at something often cause us to be complacent and not strive to the fullest of our abilities
*We need to realign our focus on that which is most important to God.
3) We need to change the way we think about OUR GIVING.
*Instead of giving for the sake of giving, we should be giving for the sake of love.
*What God is looking for is not our finances, but he is looking at our hearts (attitude) when we give to Him.
"Shema" - the centerpiece of all morning and evening Jewish prayer services
Add info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shema
[Psa 50:12]
-> God has everything in this world, so he's definately not aiming for our finances

SOT Graduation 2008 + Rev Alex Abraham + Money Not Enough 2 Screening
Hi all, this week we are all privileged to hear from Rev Alex Abraham from Surabaya. He was hear to grace the graduation of the students of the 2008 batch of SOT students! Although he didn't really preach much and shared more of his testimony, there are still some points in which we can learn from him :)
1) God want to meet with people, people however need to meet with God!
->Need vs Want (which is more pressing?)
2) If we proclaim anything in the name of Jesus, it would usually means success. However we must also have the faith to believe in what we believe in for "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen"
3) It is one thing to know Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, it is another thing altogether to have intimate communion with Him. (Head Knowledge cannot be compared to Heart Knowledge). The only way we can have communion with Him is thru' prayer and fasting.
From Eph3:14-20, it's a prayer for the church; where we can claim on to this promise. I'm really impacted by verse 20 "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us". Miracles will only come when we allow Him to work in us, the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Visions and dreams will come through in this 4 steps
Revelation ---> Inspiration ---> Illumination ---> Reality
Which means that we receive a Rhema from God, and through inspiration from the Holy Spirit, we will be able to see the way how to act upon the vision, for it to turn out to be a reality.
After that we had the individual graduates collect their certs and have the graduation in full swing. Hope that the testimony from the Japanese couples would inspire more of us to join next year's SOT :)
At 2.30pm, a group of us (Audrey, Valerie, Xiang Lun, Michelle, Regina and her Mum, Clara) went to attend the "Money No Enough 2" movie screening. Attendance for the screening was jammed pack, with us barely on time to enter the hall. In Jack Neo's form, there were many instances of satirical cases of the latest Government policies, Hokkien jokes etc, but the main thrust of the movie was on the 3 brothers and their attitudes to their mother, who in spite of everything, still wants the best for them. I'm unashamed to admit that during the movie, I wept uncontrollably at some of the scenes. It not only reminds me that we not only need to honour our parents while they are still alive, but also the unconditional love that the mother had reminds me of how Jesus loves us. After the event, some of the cast came out and there was basically a short summary on their characters and the way they acted. The actress acting as Jack Neo's wife teared as she sang a song that talks about a mother's lament on her life. For all of us, I recommend at least watching the movie once, as it really can impact how you view your parents.

How to apply the 7-M Mountains
Hi all, this week we have Dr Peter Wagner preaching to us, continuing from his sermon from last year. At Expo Hall 8, Saturday 16/08/08, he continues to teach on how can we apply the 7-M mandate.
Recap: The 7-M(Mountains) Mandate refers to the 7 Pillars of Society; Religion, Business, Arts & Entertainment, Education, Media, Family.
*You cannot sustain any social transformation without changing all the pillars of society.
*We can change the pillars of society by having kingdom-minded and kingdom-motivated people at the top of each pillars.
Titus 3:5
"not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit"
->Regeneration: once in our life, when we receive the Holy Spirit
->Renewing: constant, never-ending process
There are 3 steps for renewal.
1) Awareness: Renewing of our Mind (Paradigm Shift)
2) Identification: Renewing of our Commitment
3) Application: Renewing our Practice
Dr Wagner identified there are 2 kinds of churches!
*Nuclear churches (Pillar of Religion) and Extended Churches(All the other Pillars)
*Many people will visit the nuclear churches once a week, but they neglect the extended churches in the rest of the week.
*Every Mountain have a different culture to it, and to be a leader means to have respect from their peers in the same industry.
*We gain respect from the religion mountain through spirituality, but we gain respect from the other mountains through success.
*When what you do matters to other in the same pillar means that you are gaining influence.
*Therefore we are to be workplace apostles!
Some theories that underlie how leaders operate outside the Religion Mountain.
1) Convergence
->To spend most of your time doing what you are good at.
*If you are able, prioritise your basis based on opportunity, rather than need.
*BBG Motto: Transform, Accumulate, Dominate
->First transform your thinking, then be able to accumulate wealth for His Kingdom, finally dominate the pillar which you are placed in.
2) Constraint
-> To discover the ceiling in your life and find out what's keeping you under the ceiling.
Some type of constraints in a person life.
*Spiritual Constraints - Living in the Flesh, Devils etc.
*Relational Constraints - Think Abraham and Lot
*Financial Constraints - Debts etc
*Lifestyle Constraints - unwise decision in time allocation etc
*Character Constraints - Quote from Dr Wagner 'Take Biblical Holiness Seriously'
*Attitude Constraints - Your personality etc.
*Geographical Constraints - No need to explain this one
*Employment Constraints - As above
*Alignment Constraints - "Apostolic Alignment" He said that he'll teach us this one day...
*Giving Constraints - Not Tithing, giving Offerings
*Curses - Generational or otherwise
3) Triangulation
->To be in the correct alignment to allow you to be fulfulling your fullest potential
*He ran out of time, so this wasn't fully covered :(

Qualities of Servanthood
Sorry for being AWOL from this task, after reflection I realised that some of you were right. My bad. So the next time if i'm unable to update it, i'll ask someone to do it if possible.
Well, today's message is on being a servant like Rebekah (Gen 24). Pst Kong shared about Rebekah, and how Eliezer (Holy Spirit), is sent out by Abraham (Father) to seek a suitable wife for his son, Isaac(Jesus). With it comes 7 qualities of servanthood which Rebekah has demonstrated to have.
1) Servanthood is Willing
Re: Gen 24:18-19
-> Rebekah was willing to give up her time and energy to serve Eliezer and his 10 camels
2) Servanthood Excels
Re: Gen 24:19
-> She did not just offer water to Eliezer, but also to his camels.
*Camels can drink up to 106 liters of water!!
*One trip to fetch water equals to walking up 3 flights of stairs in a HDB estate.
*Assuming that she carries 1 liter up every time, that would be a total of 2120 (106*10*2)trips!
-> Yet she does it without complaints
*Excellence - exceeding all expectation; attention given to details that leads to superior results.
3) Servanthood is Swift
Re: Gen 24:18,20
*The degree of your servanthood is in direct proportion with your speed in serving
4) Servanthood is never convenient
Re: Luke 17:7-8
*To be a servant is to take care of others first, before taking care of yourself.
5) Servanthood is honoring
Re: Gen 24:18
*To be a man/woman of God, one must be a lover of hospitality!
6) Servanthood is Work
Re: Gen 24:20
*Servanthood can bring promotion in life! (Re: Luke 14:8)
7) Servanthood is about Caring people
*We are unable to learn and experience about servanthood if there are no one around for us to serve!
Well, that's should be it for now. I'll try to regularly update this weekly.

Built to Last 2 (Jesus DNA)
Hi all, this has been a great service for those who attended. Pst Tan really gave a great word for us this week!
Recap: It's Important for us to have a good VALUES system.
Visible - People can see it out from you.
Attract - You'll attract like-minded people to you
Lead - Your values system acts like a compass for you
Unite - It'll let those with the like-mind have the same mind, doing things on the same accord
Establish - It'll helps us to form an organisation
Standard - It is measurable for people to gauge.
What is DNA?
i) Genetic information to function, grow & reproduce
ii) Set of blueprints, containing the instruction for the functions
iii) Has 4 chemical bases
iv) Identifies who one is
v) Determines one's personality
vi) Organised into structures called chromosomes
vii) The speed in which DNA is replicated is the speed of growth in a person
viii) Passed down from parent to child
Remember: what is true in the natural is also true in the supernatural!
So the Jesus DNA consist of 3 main bases
1) Faith
2) Hope
3) Love
Faith + Hope + Love = Servanthood
The Bible mentioned some people who God called them servants!
Abraham (Gen 26:24)
Moses (Num 12:7-8)
Caleb (Num 14:24)
David (2Sam 3:18)
Job (Job 1:8)
This is because everything they did is for His glory, and not their own personal glory like Nimrod(Gen 10:8-10, Gen 11:3-9)
What are the qualities of servanthood?
1) Servanthood is willing
2) Servanthood excels
3) Servanthood is swift
4) Servanthood is the ability to humble oneself
5) Servanthood is working till the job is done
Paul says that Epaphroditus (Phil 2:23-30) is to be esteemed as he is to Paul, a:
1) Brother
2) Fellow Worker
3) Fellow Soldier
4) Messenger
5) Minister
and the Philipians were all worried when they heard he fell ill. It shows that he has a great influence over their lives.
Final quote: Visible Love opens Invisible Hearts!

i) Genetic information to function, grow & reproduce
ii) Set of blueprints, containing the instruction for the functions
iii) Has 4 chemical bases
iv) Identifies who one is
v) Determines one's personality
vi) Organised into structures called chromosomes
vii) The speed in which DNA is replicated is the speed of growth in a person
viii) Passed down from parent to child
Remember: what is true in the natural is also true in the supernatural!
So the Jesus DNA consist of 3 main bases
1) Faith
2) Hope
3) Love
Faith + Hope + Love = Servanthood
The Bible mentioned some people who God called them servants!
Abraham (Gen 26:24)
Moses (Num 12:7-8)
Caleb (Num 14:24)
David (2Sam 3:18)
Job (Job 1:8)
This is because everything they did is for His glory, and not their own personal glory like Nimrod(Gen 10:8-10, Gen 11:3-9)
What are the qualities of servanthood?
1) Servanthood is willing
2) Servanthood excels
3) Servanthood is swift
4) Servanthood is the ability to humble oneself
5) Servanthood is working till the job is done
Paul says that Epaphroditus (Phil 2:23-30) is to be esteemed as he is to Paul, a:
1) Brother
2) Fellow Worker
3) Fellow Soldier
4) Messenger
5) Minister
and the Philipians were all worried when they heard he fell ill. It shows that he has a great influence over their lives.
Final quote: Visible Love opens Invisible Hearts!

L.I.F.E in the Abrahamic Covenant
This week's sermon was given by Pst Tan YP, the right-hand man for Pst Kong in church :)
Gen 12:1-3
=> Famous scripture of God's promise to Abraham, as we know, through Abraham, all the nations are blessed!
So what does LIFE in the Abrahamic Covenant mean?
L - Leaving to Cleave
=> Everything that we do is in 2 parts!
-> E.g.(Salvation) We leave our our life behind us, and we cleave on to the truths of God.
-> E.g. (Marriage) We leave our parents, and we cleave on to our spouse.
*As believers, we must leave from the outer courts, transition through the Holy Place, and cleave into the Holy of Holies. (Tabernacle Series)
I - Intimacy with the Lord
=> To wholly follow Him (Numbers 32:11-12)
*To wholly follow means that we follow him; body, mind and soul.
F - Faith in God
=> Faith = Complete Trust in His Goodness, Loyalty to Him, Fidelity
*Abraham trusted God so completely that he was willing to sacrifice his son, Isaac, to God!
*God then prospered Abraham so much that the land was unable to contain it! (Gen 13:2,5-6)
E - Example through Brokenness
=> Live your life for Christ as an example to the world, a.k.a be salt and light!
2Cor 4:7-12
-> Life will only come forth when there is death!
*We are to be a blessing to others, just like Abraham through his covenant with God!
*Therefore, step out of your comfort zone and enter into the world! Do not be afraid of failure as people will fail now and again.
*If we manage to overcome a particular trial which God has set for us, we can relate to people who are going through the same problem as we did and show them God's grace!
Matthew 26:39
"... not as I will, but as You will."
*Will - i) to wish; desire; like
ii) a legal declaration of a person's wishes as to the disposition of his or her property
or estate after death, usually written and signed by the testator and attested by
witnesses
-> Let's think of "Will" as the 2nd definition instead of the 1st. Hence, God's will is not just his desires, but it's a legal declaration!
That's all for this time. I promise I'll try to update this more regularly :)

Reasons for Prayers
This was what was preached on 18th May 2008, by Pst Kong Hee.
1Chr 4:9
=> Jabez was singled out in the whole of Chronicles, for he was more honorable than his brothers
=> This was because he seeks God 1st in his relationship.
2Chr 7:14
"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and forgive their sins, and heal the land"
Therefore, when we as Christians fast, pray, seek God and repent, God WILL hear from heaven and healing will begin to take place!
As prayer is a lifestyle, it can be forsaken by people who do not cultivate it.
Here are 10 reasons why believers need to have a strong prayer life.
1) Temptations are overcome through prayer. (Matthew 26:40-41)
2) The heart is softened toward God through prayer. (Hosea 10:12)
3) God is found through prayer. (Isaiah 55:6)
4) Our life gets refreshed through prayer. (Amos 5:4)
5) Our soul gets encouraged through prayer. (Luke 18:1)
6) Persistance is developed through prayer. (Romans 12:12)
7) The Holy Spirit empowers you through prayer. (Ephesian 6:14)
8) Anxiety can be defeated through prayer. (Philippians 4:6)
9) Revival comes through prayer. (Acts 1:14)
10) You will shake the world through prayer (Acts 4:31)
That's it! Don't forget that we must continue to pray regularly for our connect groups and friends :)

Mother's Day Weekend
Hi guys, been a while since I updated this so it's a bumper 3 post at one time!
1st up would be the Mother's Day message by our very own Pst(Dr) Kong.
"Greatest Mother in the Bible"
'1Sam1'
=> We can see that Hannah was barren and was always antagonised by her rival (1Sam1:2,6)
=> Yet she did 3 things that changed her life to raise up the greatest prophet in his generation
1) Hannah was dedicated to God
-> Had a fervent prayer life with God (1Sam 1:7,11)
-> She didn't blame God for her predictament
-> When she prayed, her prayer was for what she can do for Him!
2) Hannah was dedicated to her husband
-> She was a forgiving person, forgiving her husband even though he took a 2nd wife they also spend quality time together. (1Sam 1:5)
*A couple that prays together will stay together! (1Sam 1:19)
3) Hannah was dedicated to her child
(1Sam 2:18-20)
-> A child is the most teachable at a young age, so when Hannah teaches her child to fear & worship the Lord, Samuel readily listens to his mother.

*Praying the Lost into the Kingdom* Sun 04/05/08
Hey guys! Hope you'll had enjoyed the service we had this weekend :). As 1 of those in-charge of maintaining the blog, I think I'll post weekly on the main points of whatever was preached to us during services. If it's a conference-like meeting, I'll try to condense it the best I could :)
Pst Tan spoke of all believers in the New Testament Church to be great soul-winners and that their lifestyle was one of evangelism. In fact, being barren was to be a source of shame for the people living in those days. Thus, we as Christians need to make evangelism to be a lifestyle!
*3 important processes for a believer to have in order to win the lost:
i) Spiritual Fruitfulness --> Spiritual Birth
-> We are created in the image of God;
-> We are to be fruitful and multiply (Gen 1:26-28)
-> Fruitfulness is synonymous with a spirit-filled life!
ii) Spiritual Adoption --> Praying in the Spirit
-> What we adopt in the supernatural will come to pass in the natural!
-> A period is needed for something to be borne from the spirit
--> Conception => Having a burden from someone
--> Gestation => Continued prayer and meeting the person needs
--> Birth => Acceptance of salvation from the above-mentioned!
-> Pray Until Something Happens! (PUSH)
-> Great Commision = Great Co-Mission (Working with someone else!)
-> The same authority that is given to a church is also given to groups of 2 & 3
(Matt16:18-19;Matt18:16-20)
iii) Spiritual Empowerment --> Working with the Holy Spirit
-> The Holy Spirit is our Helper
-> Prayer allows us to access the mind of God.
*How does the Holy Spirit Helps?
1) He helps you come out with an effective namelist of those to reach out to.
2) He helps to have visions and dreams for those we want to reach out to.
3) He helps us to minister the hearts of our prospects.
*Life-Changing Prayers will ONLY come from massively, persistant prayers!
That's basically it, do let me know if you have any points that you want to add on to it, as all people recieve different revelations from the sermon messages. You can add it in the comments box. Thanks for reading it and enjoy your week! :)
